Why I Built This Website
There is no portfolio template here and no fixed niche, it is just a place that is mine where I can write about whatever I want.
I built this website in 2024 on a domain called sahilnyk.tech and later I moved it to sahilnyk.xyz, but for months after that it stayed mostly empty because every time I opened it I would just look at the blank sections and close the tab again. The code was never the problem for me. The problem was that I kept treating the website like a resume, something I had to build to impress recruiters where every section is formatted the right way and every line says the right thing, and that pressure took away any reason I had to actually write something here.
At some point I stopped caring about using the website to impress anyone, so now it is just mine and there is no rule that every post has to be technical or polished. If I want to write about a bug that wrecked my whole week I will write about it, and the same goes for chess or some random thing I understood at 2am, because on my own website all of it is allowed.
The point of the website now is freedom, a place where I can put up anything I want without first asking myself whether it fits some theme. It is half journal and half technical notebook and half whatever I feel like writing that week (that is three halves, but I am not doing the math here). This post is basically the first real entry, and everything I write after this is just me figuring things out in public.
